On November 3rd, 2023, some members of FOODSHARING Landkreis Offenbach West eV - known as FLOW for short - were guests at our monthly women's café.
Members believe that each of us can do something to reduce food waste. This was clearly conveyed to the women present. Those involved in food sharing see their main task in educational work to educate people about food waste and ways to reduce it. There was also an explicit reference to the one in Egelsbach on the Dr. Horst-Schmidt-Halle fair trailer, which everyone can use free of charge. The opportunity to join the Whatsapp group for the Egelsbacher Fairteiler using a QR code was gladly accepted.
The children who came to the women's café with their mothers were also kept busy. One of the ladies from Foodsharing painted the decorative pumpkins they had brought with them with the children. It was amazing what artistic abilities came to light.
After the lecture, everyone present was asked to look through the large number of foods that “FLOW” had brought with them again in order to sort out the foods that were actually no longer usable. Visitors to the women's café were able to take all other food home with them. And it was worth it. With the bags bulging, we could head home with the good feeling of having saved food and thus counteracted food waste.
